What is Meant by OE Tires?
The term OE tire is often heard. However, there is not much public understanding about what OE tires actually are.
OE tires are short for Original Equipment tires. This is a term that refers to the original tires of a particular vehicle. Another familiar name is factory tires.
So, when a vehicle is launched, the tires used are OE tires. These tires will always be used on the same type of vehicle forever.
Therefore, there are a lot of OE tires. Because, each type of vehicle must have its own tires.
This cannot be separated from the existence of various different types of vehicles. Vehicle manufacturers will definitely adjust the type of tire to their vehicle. For example, SUV cars certainly have different OE tire types compared to MPV cars.
Long Determination Process
However, choosing a tire to be an OE tire for a particular vehicle is not only related to its type. Behind it is a long process involving car and tire manufacturers. So, it's not just random.
Dunlop's experience as a supplier of OE tires for many cars in Indonesia can be used as an example. The trust that Dunlop achieved was apparently obtained through hard struggle.
As explained previously, there are many processes that take energy and time to get the opportunity to become an OE tire supplier. For example, Dunlop took a long preparation process. It will take at least two years before Dunlop is trusted to supply tires for certain vehicles.
During that time, Dunlop prepared himself by carrying out various things, starting from discussing with car manufacturers, providing recommendations for appropriate specifications, to designing the best design. However, as an OE tire supplier, Dunlop leaves the decision in the hands of the vehicle manufacturer. They will make the final decisions about tires such as noise levels and design.
In this regard, vehicle manufacturers often consider the purpose and characteristics of the vehicle. As an easy example, a sports car certainly requires a type of tire that can support the speed of the vehicle. So, vehicle manufacturers want tires with specifications that are suitable to their tire suppliers, namely tires that are capable of going fast.
Apart from that, business factors will be taken into consideration. However, there must be a profit and loss calculation that is carried out to determine the OE tire. Vehicle manufacturers clearly want quality tires at the best price as OE tires.
Specifications According to Vehicle Standards
OE tires do have their own advantages compared to other tires. The specifications are guaranteed to be suitable for the vehicle. This is possible because vehicle manufacturers and OE tire suppliers such as Dunlop have designed tires to suit their vehicles.
OE tire suppliers already know the characteristics of vehicles in depth. In this way, the level of comfort, durability and usability of the tire will be designed according to the vehicle that uses it. This will guarantee security and performance.
Apart from that, for vehicle users, the presence of OE tires is very convenient. When they have to change tires, they don't need to bother looking for another type of tire.
Just choose tires that are exactly the same as the OE tires, then the tires can be replaced immediately with results that will not disappoint. Tires are guaranteed to match the vehicle. Safety, comfort and performance are in accordance with the standards of the vehicle used.
Therefore, if possible, pay attention to the type of OE tires on your vehicle. Then, note the brand and specifications. Choose these tires when changing tires so that the quality of the tires can be relied on.
