Take advantage of ESC to remain stable while driving
Traffic accidents often occur due to loss of stability in driving. The car drives uncontrollably either because of a condition called oversteer or understeer. To avoid experiencing this, take advantage of the existing Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
Road conditions vary greatly. Sometimes roads that take sharp turns or roads that are slippery due to rain have to be passed. At that time, a moving car has the potential to lose stability. The driver did not control the speed of the car because the tires lost traction.
For example, when driving around a sharp, slippery corner, the car experiences understeer. This is a condition when the car has difficulty turning because the front wheels lose traction due to entering the corner too quickly. When that happens, the car can be prone to leaving the road.
In this condition the car could also experience oversteer. Cars tend to twist easily because the rear part of the car is thrown away. Again, this can throw the car off the road, making it very dangerous.
Such a situation turned out to be fatal. Quite a lot of traffic accidents start from oversteer or understeer. However, with ESC technology, this problem should be overcome.
ESC is a technology that supports driving safety. This technology functions to maintain control and stability of the car when crossing difficult terrain. With “smart”, the ESC will be able to detect when the car loses control, thus helping the driver keep the car's speed stable.
ESC works by comparing commands and actions carried out by the driver, such as pressing the brake and turning the steering wheel, with the actual response from the vehicle. If there is a mismatch, the ESC system will orders the brakes on each tire to work to restore traction.
A real example is when driving on a slippery road, the driver tries to turn the vehicle. But, it turns out the car continued to drive straight. ESC is able to detect these symptoms and help the driver regain control of the car's speed.
ESC is able to order the brakes to operate so that the tires gain traction again so that the car can be controlled according to the driver's wishes. This is possible because the ESC can detect discrepancies between the car's movements and the driver's maneuvers on the steering wheel.
Thanks to this capability, ESC technology is widely used in various types of cars as a means of supporting safety. ESC has indeed been proven to be able to reduce the rate of accidents due to drivers losing control on the road. The number stated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reached 56 percent.
This fact is not surprising. The reason is, apart from keeping the car's speed stable, ESC is also able to reduce the possibility of understeer or oversteer conditions. In some types of cars, ESC can even reduce engine power automatically so that it is easier for the driver to control the car.
Drivers are advised to activate ESC. Just turn it on, this technology, which is also often called Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), or Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), will be very helpful.
ESC was first developed in the 1990s. However, currently, this technology can be found in many types of cars in Indonesia. In Europe, ESC has even become a technology that must be installed in all types of cars.
This obligation is reasonable. ESC can make the car regain traction easily when the driver loses control. His ability to carry out the braking necessary to stabilize the vehicle's speed is key.
Therefore, ESC is very reliable. However, for maximum performance, car tires must be in prime condition. That will make it easier for the car to gain traction when out of control.
To ensure this, quality tires from Dunlop must be the choice. With quality materials and special designs, Dunlop tires make it easier for the ESC to work optimally.
