Why is it necessary to rotate car tires?
Tires are a vital car component. For this reason, tires need to be properly maintained so they can provide maximum performance. One simple way to care for car tires is to rotate the tires regularly.
However, it's a shame that not many people rotate their car tires regularly. Most don't do it because they don't know its use. Additionally, service advisors often do not recommend.
Even though car tire rotation is important. Tires need to be rotated because their wear levels vary. Please be aware that the tires are in direct contact with the road surface. Ultimately friction is unavoidable resulting in wear of the tire surface.
However, the level of tire surface wear is not the same. The front tires tend to wear out faster than the rear tires. This is because the front tires are often used to turn or tread more forcefully when braking. All of this little by little erodes the surface of the tire.
For this reason, tire rotation needs to be done. The goal is to ensure even tire wear on all sides. If the wear level is even, then the tire's driving performance remains good. Tires can tread firmly so that driving safety is maintained.
When the benefits of tire rotation are known, it's time to do it. Immediately rotate the tires regularly when the car is used in the range of 7 thousand kilometers to 10 thousand kilometers.
However, if the car is often used to drive at high speeds, there is no harm in speeding up the rotation period to once every 5 thousand kilometers. This is because the wear rate is definitely faster than a car that is used to drive at normal speed.
PROPER ROTATION TECHNIQUE
It turns out that you can't rotate car tires haphazardly. Don't just move from left to right or from front to back. There are special rules that will ensure that tire wear levels are always maintained properly.
Treatment for each type of car is different. For example, the tire rotation technique for front-wheel and rear-wheel drive cars is different. However, in principle, rotation is carried out using the crossing principle.
The following is an explanation for car rotation in each type of car:
Front Wheel Drive Vehicles
â— The right front tire reverses to become a spare tire.
â— The left front tire reverses to become the left rear tire.
â— The right rear tire moves forward to become the left front tire.
â— The left rear tire moves forward to become the right front tire.
â— The spare tire can be the left rear tire.
Rear Wheel Drive Vehicles
â— The right front tire reverses to become the left rear tire.
â— The left rear tire moves forward to become the left front tire.
â— The right rear tire moves forward to become the right front tire.
â— The left front tire becomes the spare tire.
â— The spare tire becomes the right rear tire.
That's how to properly rotate car tires. Complete these steps by spooring. If this is done, the tire performance will continue to be maintained at the maximum level.
