Pay attention to the safe tire speed limit
Tire burst cases on the road still occur frequently. The triggers are varied. Apart from the bad condition of the tires, driving while violating safe tire speed limits is also often the cause.
Drivers often don't realize this. Not many people know about the speed limit that a tire can tolerate. So, many people just step on the gas pedal without paying attention.
In fact, it is very dangerous. It is important to know that tires have a safe speed limit. The value can be known from the Speed Symbol listed there.
Speed Symbol is a sign that shows the maximum speed a tire can reach. Usually this is also related to the load index which is the safe limit of the load that can be transported.
This sign must be printed on the tire. You have to look at it to know the Speed Symbol for each tire used.
The code in the Speed Symbol is usually indicated by a specific letter. Each tire manufacturer has a different coding mark. However, most of them are only in one letter. Then, each letter must represent a specific safe speed limit.
Dunlop for example. The lowest speed limit is represented by a speed rating F, which means a maximum speed of 80 km/h. Then there is also a speed rating P for speeds of 150 km/hour. Meanwhile, the highest is given the code (Y) which represents tires for speeds of 300 km/hour and above.
The driver must know exactly the speed rating on the tire. Make sure not to exceed it. If it exceeds the specified limit, controlling the car will feel difficult. The car will shake easily. It's very dangerous if this happens on a busy street.
Not only that, if the speed limit is violated and the tire condition is bad, the threat of a tire burst is very big. If this happens, a fatal accident could occur.
Therefore, take care not to exceed the speed limit tolerated by the tires. Moreover, driving at high speed is also dangerous for safety. It is better to drive within the normal speed threshold.
HOW TO CHANGE THE TIRE?
If you feel that the tire is not suitable for the desired speed, it is recommended to replace the tire. Choose a tire that has a higher Speed Symbol.
This is possible. Later the tire performance tends to feel better. In terms of control and stability, driving will be more comfortable. The car can be maneuvered smoothly.
However, this must be compensated for at a higher cost. Tires with a high Speed Symbol are in line with the price. The higher the limit, the more expensive the tire will be.
For that reason, consider if you want to replace it. It's better to keep it adjusted to the standard tires on the car. The speed limit value is definitely adjusted to the capabilities and specifications of the vehicle. This will anticipate the possibility of pushing the car beyond its limits.
Moreover, driving at high speed carries high risks. Your safety and that of others is at stake. So, drive at normal speed to comply with traffic regulations.
Understanding the Speed Symbol is necessary for driving safety. If you understand the speed limits tolerated by the tires, the driver can adjust them to be safe.
