Know the exact function of spark plugs in a car
In every gasoline-powered car engine there must be a spark plug. This vehicle component has a vital function so it needs to be maintained.
Spark plugs are a vital part of the combustion process in vehicle engines. This spare part is responsible for providing a spark in the combustion chamber which has been compressed by a mixture of gasoline and air.
The inventor of the spark plug was Etienne Lenoir who began using it in 1860 for his gasoline internal combustion engine. However, the person who patented it was Robert Bosch who used it as part of an ignition system in 1898.
Since then, spark plugs have been used to start fires in gasoline-powered engines. Without spark plugs, a spark does not occur and the combustion process in the engine does not occur.
However, thanks to the presence of the spark plug, combustion in the cylinder space can occur. This process ultimately produces power that moves the vehicle. The function of the spark plug is very vital, isn't it?
Therefore, it is very important to care for the spark plugs so that they always function optimally. Because spark plugs are included in the three main elements that determine perfect combustion. Two other things are an ideal mixture of fuel and air or good air fuel mixture and a healthy combustion chamber or good compression.
If the spark plugs don't perform well, there will be a number of problems in the car. Some examples are an unstable engine, decreased acceleration, difficulty starting, and the vehicle consuming more fuel than normal.
For this reason, it is important that the spark plug always produces a good quality electrical spark. Maintenance is key. In fact, there are times when it has to be replaced when its useful life has ended.
REPLACEMENT TIME
To replace spark plugs, the general benchmarks are the kilometers used and the level of damage. However, these two things cannot be a definite measure because they are more general estimates. The reason is, the condition of each vehicle is different.
Even so, there are usually general references that are used. The spark plugs are often replaced every time the car travels 20 thousand km. This distance is equivalent to twice the period of routine service or car oil changes.
Meanwhile, for damaged spark plugs, the replacement time depends on the electrode damage. This cannot be given an exact measurement. The reason is, there are different types of spark plugs with various materials.
For example, single precious metal type spark plugs have the same or longer damage rate than standard type spark plugs. However, double precious metal type spark plugs can experience different types of damage depending on which position is damaged first.
However, if it is damaged, the spark plug should be replaced immediately. If not, the non-optimal function of the spark plug could have a negative impact on other vehicle components. A number of spare parts such as coils, spark plug wires, primary bold, secondary light, cap & rotors, triggers & module, so the battery will be affected.
Therefore, never underestimate spark plugs. Spark plugs should always be maintained and replaced when they are damaged so that the car's performance remains optimal.
Apart from spark plugs, also pay attention to the condition of the tires. Good tires will have an impact on the vehicle. So, make sure you use quality ones from Dunlop. These high-performance Dunlop tires guarantee optimal tire performance to support driving.
